Abundance in Flow
Morning Journal
“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.” — Lao Tzu
I spent some time this morning collecting Makrut limes that had fallen on the ground. Nice, large ones. I had noticed them on my walk yesterday — they were still fresh and ripe. So this morning, I took a basket and collected them. They overfilled the basket, so I had to do two trips.
Our neighboring adjacent land has two Makrut Lime trees. They are small trees, probably about 9 feet tall, but give out hundreds of fruits every few months. Much of the fruit goes back to the land, and I do my part to make the best use of them. We live in the jungle area, so there is an abundance of fruits like these.
I sliced about a dozen of these limes and put them in a pot of boiling water.
That pot is now in my living room, slowly giving off a citrusy fragrance making me feel fresh and at home.
As for the rest, we will use them to make curries, shampoo, soap, and give them away to friends and family.
It is nice to get a feeling of abundance. While the financial market, global news, and everything that is on the media keeps reminding us what a scarce, hopeless world we live in, this one simple experience of picking limes from the ground makes me feel of life, health, and abundance.
All those trees planted decades ago never stopped living. They lived every single day, and have been doing so. This is why they give out fruits periodically.
In living slowly, we experience abundance. In being slow, we become abundance.
