When Victims Become Oppressors
A human story
Entire races victimized in the past try to release their traumas by oppressing other groups, nations, or races. People with developmental traumas due to a lack of healthy parenting end up doing the same to their children.
And the saga continues…
How often do we pause to think of our own demeanor towards others? Are we trying to run away from our past by projecting our fears onto innocent, helpless people?
More interesting do we also reflect on how we are treating ourselves? Does the victim of our past still live in us, such that we are now trying to victimize ourselves by taking on the oppressor role?
Let’s get it down to daily routines. How much of our decision and actions come from a place of the victim-oppressor dynamic?
Shall we pause? Even stop, and take a break?
Perhaps there is no need to keep turning that wheel if something is hurting. Every second, every minute of stepping out of this unhealthy dynamic counts, and with practice, we do become amazing humans.
